The WORT Project invites you to the Club Speed Dating on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 5 p.m. in Haus H (indoor area). Twenty clubs from Schmalkalden and the surrounding area will be there, ranging from sports to social, music, and art. There will be live music performances, and the clubs will share their passion with the guests.

The goal of the event is to further strengthen the connection between the university and the town, fostering encounters beyond the campus. Both German and international students are encouraged not only to explore career opportunities but also to socially integrate into the region’s club life. "If you want to put down roots in southern Thuringia," says local mayor Fabian Amborn from Wernshausen, "you can’t get around joining a club." The speed dating offers the perfect opportunity to make contacts, discover new hobbies, and shape life in Schmalkalden beyond your studies.

International students, in particular, often struggle to make connections with locals and to integrate into life outside the campus. To overcome this challenge, Marita Peter from the WORT Project, together with Fabian Amborn and the Chair of the University Council, Marina Heller, initiated the idea of bringing the university and local club life even closer together. This event aims to give students the opportunity to get to know local clubs and learn about their activities. On the other hand, clubs have the chance to recruit new members and engage in conversation with young adults.

The event will be opened at 5 p.m. by Mayor Thomas Kaminski. Everyone is warmly invited!
